Noch kann es Michael Stanka kaum fassen. Dass er zu den besten Betreibern von Tankstellen in Österreich gehört, hat den Tiroler schon gefreut. Doch dass er auf dem diesjährigen „smiling stars event“ der Shell in Tokio zum Besten der Besten aus Europa und Afrika gewählt wurde, hat den bodenständigen Geschäftsmann schier umgehauen. „Damit hätte ich wirklich nicht gerechnet“, sagt Stanka. „das ist echt der Wahnsinn“.

Mit 45.000 Tankstellen in 80 Ländern ist Shell der größte Tankstellenanbieter der Welt. Täglich zählt das Unternehmen rund 25 Millionen Kunden. Sie tanken im Jahr rund 160 Milliarden Liter Kraftstoff, kaufen 250 Millionen Liter Kaltgetränke und trinken 100 Millionen Becher Kaffee.

Damit das reibungslos funktioniert, dafür sorgen nicht zuletzt die Tankstellenbetreiber und ihre Mitarbeiter. „Sie geben der Marke Shell Gesicht und Herz und sorgen dafür, dass der Kunde sich auf der Station wohlfühlt, dass seinen Wünschen entsprochen wird und dass er sich deshalb entscheidet, wiederzukommen“, sagt der Chef des Shell Tankstellengeschäftes in Österreich, Stefan Naglis.

Einmal im Jahr lädt das Unternehmen deshalb die Besten der Besten zu einem unvergesslichen Trip in die Weltmetropolen ein, um mit ihnen zusammen ihren Geschäftserfolg zu feiern. Diesmal ging die knapp einwöchige Reise für die insgesamt 1300 Teilnehmer in die japanische Hauptstadt. Dort wurden bei der großen Abendgala aus den smiling stars die Superstars gekürt.

Dabei hat sich Stanka, der in Tirol 5 Shell Tankstellen betreibt, gegen die starke internationale Konkurrenz durchgesetzt. Kollege Anton Niewelt, der neben Stanka zu den Besten aus Österreich gehörte, gratulierte dem Kollegen und Freund: „Wenn ich es einem gönne, dann ihm“, sagt der Betreiber von acht Shell Tankstellen in Tirol und Vorarlberg. Den Sieg gefeiert haben beide zusammen.

Stanka: „Es war eine tolle Erfahrung, Partner aus der ganzen Welt zu treffen und mit ihnen über das Geschäft zu reden.“ Niewelt: „Ein perfekt organisiertes Event in einer wunderbaren Stadt. Die Crew, die das organisiert hat, gehört eigentlich auch gekürt. Danke für die tollen Momente in dieser Woche.“
